Queen’s rosé rocks wine world with top trophy win at The International Wine Challenge

Queen’s Provence rosé scored 95 points in blind taste test at the prestigious International Wine Challenge

  • The only still rosé wine to receive a Trophy at this year’s awards
  • Launched nationwide via queenwinesofficial.com, Amazon, in-store and online at Waitrose and Sainsbury’s earlier this month

Just days after its official launch, Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé has been awarded the prestigious Provence Rosé Trophy at the International Wine Challenge, becoming the only still rosé wine to receive a Trophy in this year’s competition.

The wine scored an impressive 95 points from the judging panel, chaired by Madeleine Stenwreth MW alongside Saturday Kitchen and ITV This Morning’s wine expert, Helen McGinn, cementing its status as one of the breakout wine launches of 2026.

Judges praised the rosé for its elegance and precision, describing it as: “Pale pink in colour with fresh, light redcurrant fruits and citrus aromas. The texture is tissue paper soft with balancing acidity and flavours that dance on the tongue. Pure Provence vibes.”

The accolade represents a significant achievement in one of the wine world’s most competitive international awards programmes, particularly for a rosé. Trophy wins for still rosé wines remain exceptionally rare, underlining the quality and craftsmanship behind the project.

The success comes amid soaring consumer demand for the wine, which sold out on Amazon within 24 hours of launch. Since then, UK retailer Booths has moved quickly to stock the bottle later this summer, as momentum around the brand continues to build.

Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé was conceived and led by Roger Taylor — legendary drummer of Queen — in collaboration with Sony Music, Watermill Wines, Les Caves du Commandeur and Rupert Clevely.

Designed to be joyful, approachable and made for sharing, the elegant pale pink wine combines Provençal craftsmanship with a spirit that’s unmistakably rock ‘n’ roll.

Far from a simple celebrity endorsement, Taylor played an active role in shaping the wine, determined to create a Provence rosé built on authenticity, quality and enjoyment.

Taylor said: “I’m delighted by the reaction to the wine and incredibly proud to see it recognised by one of the wine industry’s most respected international awards programmes.

“We approached this properly from day one. This was never about creating another celebrity wine, it was about producing a genuinely great Provence rosé with authenticity, quality and a real sense of joy behind it. To see people responding so positively to it, and now to receive this award, is very special.”

Produced in the heart of Provence by Les Caves du Commandeur - a historic cooperative founded in 1913 - the wine blends 70% Grenache and 30% Cinsault to create a classic yet contemporary Provence rosé with wild strawberry, raspberry and citrus notes alongside a silky texture and refreshing finish.

Valérie Courrège, Winemaker at Les Caves du Commandeur said: “We’re incredibly proud to see the wine recognised in this way. We worked very closely with Roger and the team, with great care, precision and attention going into every detail, from the fruit harvested through to the bottle design.

“The vineyards here offer the perfect conditions for producing wines with freshness, balance and elegance, and we wanted the wine to reflect not only that sense of quality and character, but also Roger’s vision of creating something accessible, enjoyable and made to bring people together. To see the wine receive such a prestigious award is incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.”

With critical acclaim, rapid sell-outs and now a major international Trophy attached to its name, Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé is fast establishing itself as one of the standout wine launches of 2026.

Queen Côtes de Provence Rosé 2025 (13% ABV) is available from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Amazon, priced from £18 per bottle. Booths is also expected to stock the award-winning rosé later this summer.
